| Project Recovery |
| We work with organizations to develop project recovery strategies grounded on salvaging existing contractual relationships and accomplishments. We can help turnaround troubled projects by quickly assessing the state of a project or program vis-à-vis its fundamental constraints, namely: the scope, the budget, and the implementation roadmap.
We know how to create and execute "get well plans" in a collaborative fashion with our clients and our client's systems integrators (vendors) so as to ensure that project disruptions and resource waste is minimized. |

 |
| Earned Value Management (EVM) |
| The implementation of an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) is the best project management approach for ensuring the success of a project. Therefore, we promote the use of an EVMS wherever applicable.
We can help you adopt the tenets of the American National Standards Institute / Electronic Industries Alliance (ANSI/EIA) 748-A EVMS standard by formulating your organization's EVMS policy and help you design and implement an EVMS on a project by project basis or as an enterprise-wide initiative. We also have the expertise to conduct the validation and surveillance of (a) your organization's EVMS and/or (b) your contractor's EVMS. |

| Organizational Change Management (OCM) |
Understanding how and why people will impact organizational performance during times of change is critical to the success of any government or commercial business endeavor. The business must be able to effectively manage the OCM and culture change aspects of major shifts in organizational direction (e.g., Business Process Reengineering (BPR); Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP); Reduction in Force (RIF); human resources, workforce planning and training changes).
Compass offers its clients the ability to manage these changes effectively and efficiently using a variety of tools and best practices acquired throughout government and industry. We understand that managing change does not just start and stop with a project, so giving our clients the tools to successfully sustain the change is critical to our success, as well. |

| Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) |
| IV&V efforts are an important and integral part of every large program. But, what exactly is the charter for an IV&V team? Compass views the IV&V charter as a mandate to ensure overall project success; success for the client and success for the integrator or prime contractor. Compass leverages its past experience and credentials to provide an unbiased, i.e. independent assessment of the progress being made on a program and wherever necessary "suggest" not "dictate" risk mitigation and/or corrective actions.
Another way to view the Compass IV&V function is that of an "advisor" to the client's management team. The work performed under the category of "verification" ensures that the team is building the product right (with the necessary development life cycle rigor) and the term "validation" ensures that the team builds the right product (compliant with the vision and requirements of the program.) |

 |
| Project Management Office (PMO) |
| We provide a practical framework for defining, creating, implementing, and managing an appropriate, effective project support function. We can quickly recognize what is working and what more can be done to assure that your organization's project management office (PMO) creates value, not overhead. |
|
 |
| Risk Management |
| We can help you organize project and corporate functions to expose contractual, legal, political, economic, social, technological, cultural, and the entire spectrum of internal and external risks to evaluate, rank, and determine suitable mitigation strategies. While most projects have "risk management plans," few are able to manage risk systematically, most manage risk haphazardly. We can help you develop a rational and holistic framework that provides decision makers with the necessary foresight to manage risk. |

| Enterprise Architecture (EA) |
Enterprise architecture forms the blue print for building successful software-intensive systems. An enterprise architecture can represent a capitalized investment; an abstract reusable model that can be transferred from one system to the next.
The enterprise architecture is often the only common vehicle for communication among a system's technology –focused stakeholders. We can create or validate your enterprise architecture. The right architecture is critical for software project success. The wrong architecture one is a recipe for disaster. |

| IT Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC) |
We help federal agencies develop robust IT business cases, a.k.a. Exhibit 300's. Compass understands that effective business cases go well beyond getting funding or preventing funding erosion. We make sure the CPIC process is formally adhered to so as to provide (a) program managers, (b) portfolio and investment review board members; i.e. the CPIC office, and (c) budget managers with a highly useful "document" to meet the agency's needs as well as the needs of the Office of Management and Budget.
We can help you develop business cases that offer a common understanding of a program; one that can be explained, defended or promoted by each of the aforementioned groups. Our aim is to develop "living" and "working" business cases that are genuinely used to manage programs. |
